Hotel Wolcott

Proudly positioned in Midtown Manhattan, the historic Hotel Wolcott is valued for its boutique feel and convenient location near the Empire State Building.

With a European charm and Beaux-Arts style, the Hotel Wolcott is considered among the “Grand Dames” of historic New York hotels, as suggested by city’s mayor, Michael Bloomberg, at the Wolcott’s 100th anniversary in 2004. Providing guests with an elegant venue for afternoon tea or evening rendezvous, the hotel’s lounge was designed in true Louis XVI fashion, and resembles champagne rooms of old, where leaded chandeliers, a marble staircase and pediment windows provoke notions of nostalgia. The building’s French Empire structure and facade was designed by architect, John Duncan, the same artist who designed Grant's Tomb. Over the years, the Wilcott has hosted many notable figures, including Buddy Holly, who used the hotel as his creative base while recording “Don’t Cha Know” and “Stay Close To Me,” with Lou Giordano, in the fall of 1958.

With vaulted ceilings, crown-molding and towering guestroom windows, much of the original architectural details have been preserved since the hotel opened in 1904. These rooms also feature striped wallpaper, cherry wood headboards and work desks, traditional lamp-lighting and garden hues. Guestroom amenities include clock radios, in-roof safes, WebTV Internet access and Nintendo games.

Positioned between 5th Avenue & Broadway, on 31st Street, New York’s Hotel Wolcott offers convenience, affordability and historical relevance. The Empire State Building is three blocks NW from the hotel, and visible from many of the guestrooms. New York City tourists also appreciate the Wolcott for its favorable location, only two blocks from the Madison Square Garden and five blocks from Madison Square Park. Bryant Park is eight blocks north of the property.

Although the hotel is surrounded by subway stops, the closest entrance is the Pennsylvania Station, at 31 St. and 7th Avenue.
