Statue of Liberty

A gift of friendship from France, the Statue of Liberty has embraced Americans for over a century. As immigrants first arrived in America this landmark was their first sign of a new life.

The statue represents the Greek goddess of freedom from slavery, oppression and tyranny- Libertas. She is made of pure copper sheets and her torch is coated with 24 karat gold leaf. Her designer was a French-man by the name of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. With the help of Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, Bartholdi painstakingly crafted this American Icon.

With so much history and beauty it is no wonder why this island is a main attraction.
