Rockefeller Plaza

Built by whom other than the Rockefeller family, these 19 buildings span the distance between Fifth and Seventh Avenue. Rockefeller Plaza is currently the largest privately owned complex in the world. The Art Deco architecture was born from the original design plans that included an opera house until the Stock Market Crash in 1929. Though the opera house was never completed, the Art Deco architecture remained.

Rockefeller center is also where the great Christmas tree of New York City is lit each year. If you are planning a trip in the winter, don't forget to take a lap or two around the world famous outdoor ice skating rink.
